Why monitor CO2?

Carbon Dioxide, aka CO2, is a colorless and odorless gas.

When you breathe, you predominately exhale CO2, but also bacteria which can lead to the risk for airborne transmission of viruses.

Higher CO2 levels indicate less ventilation which means less air-changes per hour, and the possibility of higher virus transmission rates.

What are considered acceptable CO2 levels in buildings

Maintain proper indoor air temperature and humidity to maintain human comfort, reduce the potential for the spread of airborne pathogens and limit potential for mold growth in building structure and finishes.

Temperature ranges of 68 to 78 degrees F

Relative Humidity (RH)ranges of 40 to 60%

For Demand-Controlled Ventilation(DCV) systems using Carbon Dioxide (CO2) sensors – maintain 800 to 1000 Part Per Million (PPM)

Key factors that affect CO2 indoors

  1. Number of occupants in a room or space
  2. Occupant activity level (metabolic rate)
  3. Amount of time occupants spent in the room
  4. Combustion (cooking, experiments using Bunsen burners)
  5. Ventilation rate (exchange per hour with fresh outside air)
  6. Outdoor CO2 Concentration

Ensure good air quality at home, at school or in the office with the advanced GZAIR CO2 meter. In addition to the CO2 value, the CO2 monitor also measures the temperature and humidity in the room. This way you are always aware of your indoor climate and you know when to ventilate.

The GZAIR CO2 meter is easy to use and by ventilating at the right time you can prevent poor air quality in your living space. The CO2 meter indicates the CO2 content, temperature and humidity via a clear screen and is therefore suitable for quick measurements at home or in the office, but also in schools or nurseries!
